Houliao Elementary School diversified class
Due to the wonderful result of the diversified class in Houliao Elementary last semester, we added new second-grade children this semester to the group and moved to a larger classroom. With few new faces, Teacher Wei-Chen broke the ice with a game to help them to know each other, and then prepared to tell the children a superhero story.
Into the world of picture book
The picture book brought to the children of Houliao Elementary School this time is ‘’Max and superhero’’ teacher Wei-Chen and the children followed Max to see the superheroes in the movie. During the course, the teacher asked the second-grade children to be the group leaders and gave them the responsibility of leading the first-grade students to read. Unexpectedly, the team leaders were very competent for this task! When they read the picture book, each group was very attentive and followed the reading aloud.
Who is your superhero
In response to the theme of this picture book, the children have a variety of different interpretations. They enthusiastically discuss and share with the teacher. In addition to these virtual superheroes, when teacher asked about the superhero in children’s life, they also mentioned their families. Not only parents, but also siblings are great figures for them. Through the guided reading of the picture book, we heard the children share each other’s heroes with each other. We know that the meaning the picture book wants to convey has sprouted in the children’s mind!
