At the end of June, we started to distribute stationery items to schools in Nantou County. We went along the mountain road, passed through aboriginal tribes, come to schools personally to understand the situation and get closer to the children. The surrounding scenery on the mountain is beautiful, just like walking in the clouds. On the way to the school, we encountered some refurbishment of the landslide, so we had to turn around on the narrow road.

In several schools in remote areas of Nantou County, most of the students are from Bunun tribe. The school building is not very large, but there are many images of aboriginal people, and you can feel the Bunun culture as soon as you enter the door. The school buildings and pillars are decorated with diagonal stripes. The school history room also collects cultural relics with Bunun characteristics. The billboard on the wall is full of photos of children performing traditional Bunun songs and dances. On a special day, the first-grade teacher was teaching a traditional dance class. The children danced enthusiastically to the sound of drums and guitars.

Before we left, the dean insisted on taking us to their old tribal farm to get organic vegetables. We drove behind the dean’s motorcycle and watched rain falls. We were very moved, perhaps this is the human touch of Taiwanese.

We learn and understand better about the situation of children in remote areas by walking through it personally.  What we can do is help them by providing the children with the resources and company they need so that they can learn and grow smoothly. We sincerely invite you to support and participate together.
